How Difficult is it?

How do you establish and build on a career ministry?

-        It’s not hard at all...in fact most of the tools are most likely in your church right now and is looking for a way to help, whether they know it or not.

-        Here is a personal example:

o       Four years ago, Rick Duane was approached by his pastor.

o       He was out of work, and working hard to find his next employment opportunity.

o       He had talked with his pastor, Fr. John Budde, at Holy Family Catholic Church, and asked him for spiritual and community support.

o       Something in the back of his mind was giving him a yearning to help others who were in the same situation. He just hadn’t acted on it yet.

o       Knowing that Rick was in Human Resources, Father John asked if he would be willing to talk to some members of the parish who had also lost their jobs.

o       That was the spark

o       It was amazing that with this catalyst, so many people jumped in to help

o       So many people with many gifts gave their time, advice, talents, and they still do.

-        You don't need an HR person, or a VP, or someone with any leadership experience at all.  There are many who can provide guidance and a base for this ministry.

-        Groups will experience leadership transitions; fortunately a ministry that doesn't require seminary training is not difficult to perpetuate.

-        Career Transition Support Ministries is making it easier, through gatherings like this one.

-        All you have to do is ask, because God guides us to and in this ministry.

-        "If He leads you to it, He will lead you through it."
